The Healing Touch Program Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice establish the foundation for professional and ethical conduct within the Healing Touch community. Together, they define the values, responsibilities, and boundaries that guide practitioners, instructors, mentors, and students in delivering safe, respectful, and effective care. The Code of Ethics outlines the principles of integrity, compassion, and client-centered service, while the Scope of Practice clarifies what Healing Touch practitioners are trained and authorized to do. These documents promote trust, accountability, and professionalism across all settings where Healing Touch is offered.
Commitment to Integrity and Accountability
HTP is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical practice. We provide formal procedures for addressing grievances and upholding professional conduct to ensure safety and accountability across all levels of our program.
Students and Practitioners are expected to practice Healing Touch in accordance with the Healing Touch Program Code of Ethics, the Scope of Practice, and all applicable local, state/provincial, and federal laws and regulations.Ā These guidelines serve as a foundation for trust, ensuring clients receive care that is grounded in professionalism, compassion, and competence.
Mentors, Instructors, and HTP staff are expected to uphold the Code of Ethics in all interactions with students, modeling professionalism, integrity, and respectful communication.
By defining appropriate behavior and addressing key areas such as client rights, boundaries, and conflicts of interest, the Code of Ethics provides a clear foundation for accountability. By clearly articulating our organizationās values and principles, the Code of Ethics promotes professionalism, safeguards client welfare, and fosters trust. It also serves as a benchmark for evaluating both individual and organizational conduct.
Together with the Scope of Practice, these documents define the ethical framework and boundaries of Healing Touch practice, helping to prevent conflicts of interest and clarify roles and responsibilities within the therapeutic relationship.
Scope of Practice
The Healing Touch Program Scope of Practice defines the parameters of professional responsibility and the appropriate application of Healing Touch techniques. It ensures that practitioners work within their level of training, experience, and credentials, and that they represent themselves honestly to the public. The Scope of Practice emphasizes client safety, informed consent, and appropriate practitioner-client boundaries. It also clarifies that Healing Touch is a complementary therapy and is not intended to replace conventional medical care. Formal Grievance Process
Healing Touch Program maintains a formal grievance process to uphold the integrity and ethical standards of its community. If a student, practitioner, mentor, instructor, or staff member is believed to have violated the Code of Ethics or Scope of Practice, a written grievance may be submitted for review.
All complaints are handled with care and confidentiality and are evaluated by the HTP Ethics Advisor according to established procedures. This process ensures accountability, protects the well-being of clients and students, and supports a safe and professional environment for all involved in Healing Touch.
